Creating a virtual jobs fair to attract talent to the North West region.

Three Local Enterprise Offices offices from across the North-West region issued a public sector tender looking for an events agency to help pivot their annual jobs fair from a live event into a virtual format.

As the successful agency we were engaged in the end-to-end management of the process - including recruiting and on-boarding local businesses, promoting the event to the general public and designing the the virtual jobs fair experience.

Backup Marketing staged a virtual jobs fair using the V-Fairs platform. It was designed to resemble an in-person event, with key note speakers in a virtual auditorium and exhibition booths for over 30 companies. Attendees could interact with the participating companies, learn about and apply for hundreds of available job vacancies.

We helped the Local Enterprise Offices to get local businesses to participate in the event, helping to on-board and train them in how to use the platform. Over 500 local jobs were promoted, across different industries from entry level positions to senior leadership roles.

Our marketing team ran an advertising and PR campaign across local press, radio and targeted social media to promote the event and encourage job-seekers to register in advance. We also built a bespoke website for registrations.

Our digital team managed and designed the virtual experience using the V-Fairs platform - comprising keynote addresses, virtual exhibition booths, and interviews rooms.

Our philosophy for virtual events is that they should not be a compromise to live ones, and we look for new and better ways to stage events and engage more guests.

With this event we strived to increase the number of attendees, leads and hires compared to previous years. Shifting to a virtual format enabled us to increase these key metrics by 70% compared to previous years.

Hosting a virtual event of this nature was very alien to us but the Backup Marketing team were great partners in making our jobs fair a huge success for all stakeholders. Backup Marketing designed a very practical, easy to navigate and great looking conference experience for both the participating employers and jobseekers. The supporting marketing campaign helped us to outperform our registration and attendee targets for the event. Overall we had a great experience working with their team.
